Sharks @ Kings 7:00pm
Here we go again.
Sharks and Kings prepare for another playoff match up. The last playoff meeting between these teams was back in 2011. The Sharks would win that first round series in 6 games. With 3 of their 4 victories coming in overtime..including the series winner in which Joe Thornton did a slide across the ice at Staples Center.
The Sharks would make their way to the Conference Finals where they would fall to the Canucks.
But that was then.
A lot has happened since then.
Last season the Sharks playoff hopes ended just as quickly as they started. A first round exit courtesy of St.Louis Blues would crush the hearts of Sharks fans everywhere, as the Sharks managed to claw their way into the playoffs after having an off an off season that year.
The Kings would shock the hockey world, as they claimed their first Stanley Cup in franchise history..which crushed the hearts of Sharks fans even more, and at the same time..ignite a fire and hunger for a Cup like never before..in both the Sharks players and their fans.
But that would all be put on hold for a few months as the 2012-13 season started with a lockout. Fortunately hockey would be played..and things looked great for the Sharks coming out of the gate. Some struggles and redemption later..the Sharks and Kings are at it again.
The Kings looking to defend their title. The Sharks looking to dethrone their rivals of their title as they continue the quest for a title of their own.
Two teams that started the first round on the road and knocked off their opponent.
The Sharks know they have their work cutout for them.
It’s going to be a tough journey..no such thing as an easy championship run.
And a chance to dethrone the defending champions in order to continue their quest?
This is good hockey waiting to be played.
Go Sharks
